New Jersey Audubon Society - Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations
The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations has primary responsibility for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding businesses, corporations, civic groups, corporate and private foundations and government entities. The DCFR is actively engaged in working to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with the corporate and foundation sector, as well as other key stakeholders, which will result in increased funding for the immediate and long-term goals of New Jersey Audubon.
Major Responsibilities:

Designing, implementing and managing a comprehensive proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate and foundation giving.

Proactively seeking opportunities to generate new proposals based upon foundation and corporate guidelines and interests. Taking the lead with key staff to develop new approaches to foundations and corporations and coordinate these contacts to initiate the cultivation/fundraising process.

Identifying, researching, and developing cultivation and partnership strategies for emerging corporate and foundation prospects.

Cultivating and maintaining relations and strong communication ties with existing donors and prospects.

Managing foundation and corporate giving including grant writing and grant reporting.

Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with program staff in order to obtain information to craft funding proposals, updates, and compliance reports.

Advising staff and volunteers on corporate and foundation areas of interest and cultivation of corporation and foundation special requirements.

Compiling and maintaining current, accurate information about corporate and foundation donors and prospects utilizing the Raiser’s Edge software. Maintains a rigorous schedule of contacts with corporate and foundation representatives, creating moves management plans, monitoring proposal deadlines, submissions and reporting due dates.
Knowledge/Skills:

Proven ability to research, investigate, and pursue funding opportunities.

The ability to draft compelling communications about the society’s work, whether in the context of a grant application, special appeal, or acknowledgment letter.

Ability to solicit support in a face-to-face meeting with corporate and foundation representatives.

A motivated self-starter who is also a strong team player.

Excellent writing and speaking skills essential.

Experience using Raiser’s Edge software is preferred.

Familiarity with a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Office software products and web based research tools.

Possess effective organizational and time management skills and the ability to organize complex projects.

Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision.

Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals.
Qualifications:
Five or more years of paid professional experience in fund development for nonprofit organizations preferred, with an emphasis on grant writing and major gifts. Demonstrated success in implementing effective major gift fundraising strategies involving corporate and foundation giving, including prospect research and a donor-centered approach to giving
Other qualifications include:

A bachelor’s degree or relevant experience may be substituted for education.

Must be willing to travel and to work some evening or weekends as required.

This requires a reliable vehicle and a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.

Flexibility to adjust hours to meet specials needs of the department.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
